Lobstah video!!

This is my entry to Myperfectpolish Summer Nail Art contest through her youtube channel.  Youtube is difficult man! I uploaded my video like three times before it worked...but anyways.  This is my entry and its a slight variation on the original Rock Lobstah nail art design.  I made a video this time which means I now know how to make a very basic video with really annoying music, so expect more of those!

Meanwhile, i've got some craft tutorials comming, a nice sunflower design and a cat design I did on my mom. She's my guinea pig..hehe. Hopefully some more things will distract me so I can post about them. I'm thinking a possible picture spam-day of Boston or something..we'll see. If you really really want to see anything, or have awesome ideas for nail art, just comment below. I love challenges!

Two nail designs

So today I have for you TWO nail designs.  The first one is an example of the new trend of "shatter" or "crackle" fingernail polish. Its fun. I love using bright colors and then using a crackle black over it. I currently have blue, black, and white crackle polish from Sally Hansen.  And of course work just got some in so I'm tempted to buy EVERY color of it since I can use my employee discount..but I won't. I'll save my money, I promise. That way I can buy MORE nail art stuff! hehe. Anyways, here's the first "design".

Now, I do have to apologize because this isn't going to be a "design" so much of an example of what shatter looks like. You can't really plan it too much.  The shatter will go in the direction that you brush it. On my toes it's horizontal and on my thumb its verticle.  Also, the ammount you put on also affects the pattern somewhat (here it is "thin" looking, but on the other thumb it was more blocky because I put a thicker coat on).  Its part of what makes it so exciting! The overall design for this manicure was a pink, purple, yellow/orange diagonal stripe pattern with one nail's stripes going in a different direction. I then added the shatter in black to the nails and outlined the opposite-direction-stripes in black on the non-shatter nail.  The best part is that we have this new machine at work that uses a black light to tell if money is fake or not, and the yellow/orange glowed under it and it looked soooo cool with the black shatter on top.  If I ever end up going to a club or black light party, I'll make sure to try completely neon colors and the shatter! SOO COOL!

This next design is the one I recently did. I got a new color at work after a not so great work week, and its a sally hansen instant dry polish.  The brush that came with the blue background color is nice and flat and allows for a very even paint job. I also got a set of 15 nail art brushes and they are AMAZINGLY fun to play with! I tried a new way of doing roses with the brushes, as seen on my thumb, but I went back to my original way since the light pink I have is glumpy and gross and I couldn't make such nice swirls.  (must get new pink polish or that stuff to make polish not clumpy).  Also, as you may have noticed, my nails are small. I don't mean just length, but like width and everything.  It makes it hard to NOT get polish all over my skin. I'm pretty good at removing it and it mostly comes off the skin in the shower, but this picture is post shower and there's still some polish on my skin there.  My toe nails are even worse; I have to paint a fake toe nail on my little toe because its soo small!

Look! It matches my shirt!

Leopaaaarrrrd

So one thing about me is that I currently have a night job (10 pm to 6am).  The jobs not bad, but the guy I work for is terrible..but anyways....since I"m up this time for work, on my days off I"m also up...so here's a post!

I got rid of the lobstah design, it was chipping, and decided to do something a little more simple since I may hopefully be interviewing for better jobs *ihope*.

I first did  french tips, but made them a little larger than normal because my nails are short and I wanted to be able to add a design to them.  Then I went over the white with a cream color to help smooth out the brush strokes and get a more "brown" color for the base. Then I just dabbed my brown polish brush, mostly dry, to create little blobs. Ir onically enough my left hand is better at this because its not as steady so I can't make them perfect little circles.  You want a slightly messy look to the brown "spots".  Then I took my black nail art polis (it comes with a special nail art brush---L.A. Colors) and outlined parts of the sides.  Overall I end up with a more "abstract" (aka not perfect) leopard print look.  Then I cleaned up the tips a little and added a line of gold (another L.A. Colors nail art polish) right under the tips.  Then I covered them with a whole lotta clear polish to make them shiiiiiny!

There you go, one of my favorite nail art designs! Now that's all I've got since I go back to work tomorrow and will probably be too tired to post for a while :(

Helloooooo!

Hi there! I'm not good at these introduction things, so I guess I'll just explain the name first.  "Rock" is awesome, and "lobstah" is how we talk in Boston, plus I made some awesome nails with lobsters on them. Anyways, I'm on my 1st anniversary of my 21st birthday, and love everything from glitter to computer games, crafts to llamas.  Yes, llamas.  Hopefully this blog will be enjoyable to read as for me to create.

Up first is my nail art entry to Madam Luck's nail art contest. I already submitted my photo, so no one out there can steal it now, na na nana na! Anyways, the art that inspired the name, here's "Rock Lobstah!"

The theme is Summer and you can enter the contest by heading over to her blog here: Madam Luck's Nail Art Contest.
